Mad Mark's Kapitolyo Review - Steak, Pasta, Sandwiches and Desserts

Tired of fast food or the usual restaurants? Go to Kapitolyo, which is fastly becoming a, or maybe, the foodie haven in Metro Manila.

This time, we tried Mad Mark's restaurant, with the tag line Man Sandwich and Frozen Desserts though they also serve steaks and pasta. The place is clean and homy; it's small but not cramped. Maybe next time I'll include a picture.

Bootstrap Steak P290
Okay, I had a big expectation on this one because I LOVE steak and I'm meticulous how my steak is cooked. I ordered a Boostrap Steak, cooked medium. It is one of the "highly recommended" dishes in the menu. Service was relatively fast. I sliced it and was mildly surprised that it was cooked perfectly. I tasted it, it was sweet, too sweet for my taste. It was fine at first but at the end of my meal, I felt saturated with sweetness. It was overseasoned, flavors were too much.

East Meets West Chicken Fillet Pasta (P240)
We also ordered East Meets West spaghetti, which is also marked highly recommended. It reminded me a lot of Yellow Cab's Charlie Chan. Like the previous meal, the flavors were too rich for my taste. Nakaka-umay o nakaka-suya.

Overall, I give Mad Mark's a 3.5 out of 5 stars. The place has a nice ambiance which is excellent for dating or dining out with close friends. Their serving is generous but the food is rather on the over-seasoned side, but it's not bad. If you want to try something new, Mad Mark's is a good choice. -Manny
